2023 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Scholarship applicants may choose from the list of issues provided to address in a video essay. Applicants may submit up to 3 videos that are 15 to 60 seconds long. Videos should be formatted in a 9×16 aspect ratio and and saved as .mp4 or .mov. Each video should reference a call to action. Videos must include original work only and should only feature consenting parties. Animations can be used. Creativity is encouraged. APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 9TH, 2023. 

ISSUES

Applicants should discuss one issue per video. Remember to include a call to action. (Example: Drunk Driving-Don’t get behind the wheel, call a friend. If you see someone driving drunk, call 911)

  • Drunk Driving (Examples: what to do if you’re hit by a drunk driver, what to do if you witness it, how to plan a ride, consequences of drunk driving, why it’s NOT cool to drink and drive)
  • Drug-Impaired Driving (Examples: consequences of drug-impaired driving, why it’s NOT cool to drive under the influence)
  • Distracted Driving (Examples: dangers of distracted driving, passengers can hold drivers accountable)
  • Speeding (Examples: speaking out against speeding, bring attention to current stats (credible sources only), consequences of speeding)
  • Drowsy Driving (Examples: when tired is too tired to drive, how does driving drowsy effect your abilities, consequences of drowsy driving)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduated High School May 2023 in Madison County, KY 
  • GPA: 3.0+
  • Must be attending an Accredited (4-year) University

TWO RECIPIENTS WILL BE CHOSEN: ONE FROM THE NORTHERN (MADISON CENTRAL OR MODEL) AND SOUTHERN (MADISON SOUTHERN OR BEREA COMMUNITY) PART OF THE COUNTY. WE WILL ANNOUNCE THE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 11TH, 2023
